What happened
Anthropic held its Code with Claude developer conference in San Francisco on May 6, 2026. A second day on May 7 focused on independent developers and early-stage founders. London hosts a similar event on May 19, and Tokyo on June 10. The official event page lists the schedule and topics.
Based on the event listing and live coverage, the technical curriculum centered on three areas. First, coding with Claude Code in the command line and Claude Cowork for non-developer workflows. Second, the Model Context Protocol, or MCP, and how to connect Claude to local and remote data sources. Third, production reliability for agents, including evaluation pipelines.
Around the same window, Anthropic also announced higher Claude Code rate limits and a compute partnership tied to SpaceX's Colossus 1 infrastructure. Those announcements were made through separate Anthropic posts rather than as event-only news.
Why it matters
Developer conferences are where AI labs reveal real product direction. The focus on coding, MCP, and reliability shows that Anthropic sees Claude moving past chat into engineering-grade agents. The emphasis on production reliability also signals that early agent demos are not enough. Customers want safe, stable agents that ship.
MintedBrain take
For developers, the event direction is the news. If you are building with Claude, plan for an agent shaped product, not a chat shaped one. MCP is becoming the standard way to wire models to tools, files, and data. Worth learning even if you do not use Claude as your primary model.
